[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Cha Min-sik, hereinafter referred to as the Authority) held the 'Non-face-to-face New Year's Ceremony for this year' on the 4th at the international conference hall on the 2nd floor of the World Marine Center.
On this day, President Cha Min-sik delivered a New Year's address and announced the PORT IST three-year project, 'Yeosu·Gwangyang Port 2021?2023 AGENDA.'
At the event, President Cha emphasized, "Through the 2021?2023 agenda, Yeosu·Gwangyang Port will become a turning point where maritime logistics shift to land logistics, a forward base of the Y-Route extending to the Chinese, Russian, and European continents through the convergence of various capital goods, and will grow into a core industrial port contributing to national economic development."
To this end, President Cha expressed his ambition, stating, "We will develop Yeosu·Gwangyang Port into a smart port this year, a core industrial port next year, and a marine tourism-centered port by 2023, continuously striving to realize social value and sustainable management."
In particular, he pointed out the realization of port automation and modernization projects as the key focus task for this first year of the PORT IST three-year project.
President Cha emphasized, "Building a smart port at four container berths in Gwangyang Port and establishing a smart port testbed to secure cutting-edge automation technology are means to respond to the new paradigm of ports."
He added, "We will secure technological capabilities through fostering the shipping port logistics R&D industry and continuously improve port productivity through modernization projects such as the renewal of aging piers."
Additionally, he presented a total of ten key focus tasks, including ▲ securing competitiveness based on intelligent port operations and digital infrastructure ▲ creating a core industrial port centered on clusters ▲ expanding port logistics business ▲ presenting the future vision of Yeosu Port on its 100th anniversary and fostering a marine tourism hub ▲ realizing a safe and eco-friendly port ▲ establishing a win-win social value system and advancing sustainable management.
