The Teachers' Mutual Aid Association Provides Laptops to 619 Low-Income Students... Worth 450 Million KRW
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jihwan] The-K Korean Teachers' Credit Union announced on the 4th that it will sponsor laptops for 619 elementary and middle school students from vulnerable groups nationwide.
This support project is the result of selecting 619 students after document screening from a total of 1,535 schools and 3,322 applicants received last November.
The digital learning device support project is a social contribution project worth approximately 450 million KRW. It was initiated to support laptops for vulnerable students struggling with online classes and to create a smooth remote learning environment.
The selected candidates are students who are basic livelihood security recipients and meet household type conditions. A total of 619 laptops will be provided, one per person. At the time of application, the plan was to select 500 students, but due to a higher-than-expected number of applicants and the ongoing COVID-19 situation, an additional 119 students were selected, according to the Credit Union. The laptops will be shipped to the respective schools starting at the end of January and distributed to the students.
