Busan Elementary Schools to Hold Preliminary Enrollment from January 6 to 9
Confirmation of Location and Safety for School-Age Children in Face-to-Face or Non-Face-to-Face Methods in Preparation for COVID-19 Spread
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Kim Seok-jun) will conduct preliminary enrollment meetings for public elementary school enrollment candidates in the Busan area from the 6th to the 9th.
The preliminary enrollment meeting was originally scheduled for January 6th only, but due to the COVID-19 situation, it has been extended from the 6th to the 9th. Depending on the situation of each school and region, the principal will decide the method of the preliminary meeting and conduct it either face-to-face or non-face-to-face.
If conducted face-to-face, the operation period, reception location, and time will be staggered, and schools are encouraged to operate in ways suitable to their circumstances, such as drive-through or walking-through.
If face-to-face is difficult, various non-face-to-face methods such as video calls and Zoom will be used.
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education has extended the preliminary meeting hours into the evening for the convenience of parents and guardians, and if it is not possible to hold the meeting in the evening, it will be conducted on weekends.
The preliminary meeting date may change depending on the school's circumstances, different from the distributed enrollment notification. Parents should contact the assigned elementary school in advance to confirm.
If the whereabouts and safety of the enrollment candidate child are not confirmed through this preliminary meeting, the principal may verify by phone contact, home visits, or request a school visit.
If the child's whereabouts and safety are not confirmed, cooperation with the police will be requested.
