At the regular briefing on the day, Ministry of National Defense spokesperson Boo Seung-chan said, "Considering the government's social distancing policies, we have decided to extend the in-military social distancing level 2.5 for two weeks."
The Ministry of National Defense has maintained the in-military social distancing at level 2.5 since November 26 of last year, when it was raised for all units due to the continued spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
Accordingly, all soldiers' leave and outings are temporarily suspended except for pre-discharge leave or some petition leaves, and officers' private gatherings and dinners must be postponed or canceled.

Meanwhile, as of 10 a.m. on the day, the Ministry of National Defense reported no additional confirmed COVID-19 cases within the military and that two people have recovered. Accordingly, the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the military remains at 508. Among them, 490 have recovered, and 18 are receiving treatment.
