Seoul Reports Over 300 New COVID-19 Cases Yesterday... Cumulative Cases Exceed 20,000
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Despite a decrease in the number of tests conducted during the New Year holiday period, the daily confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Seoul have once again reached the 300s. The cumulative number of confirmed cases has surpassed 20,000.
As of midnight on the 4th, Seoul city announced that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases increased by 329 from the previous day, bringing the total cumulative confirmed cases to 20,138.
On the previous day alone, 121 new cases were confirmed at the Dongbu Detention Center in Songpa-gu, increasing the total cases related to this facility to 1,067. Cluster infections were also confirmed at a child care facility in Gangbuk-gu and a call center II located in Gangnam-gu, with 15 and 14 confirmed cases respectively so far.
Additional confirmed cases were reported at nursing hospitals and care facilities in Guro-gu, care facilities in Jongno-gu, and care facilities I in Yangcheon-gu.
Other cases include 81 contacts with confirmed patients, 10 contacts from other cities and provinces, 5 imported cases, and 99 cases under investigation for infection routes.
There were also 4 deaths, bringing the total number of deaths to 193. In Seoul, 11,721 people have been declared recovered and discharged, while 8,224 are currently undergoing isolation treatment.
