New Year's Concert 2021 Live Online Broadcast on the 6th

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 3rd that it will hold a New Year's concert at 7 p.m. on the 6th to welcome the Year of the Black Tiger. In the first part, music pieces that were well received at major government events last year will be performed. These include baritone Lee In-gyu's "Things That Are Natural," violinist Shin Ji-ah's "My Soul Becomes the Wind" and "Hometown in a Dream," ballerina Kim Ji-young and ballerino Kim Ki-wan's "The Mission," and soprano Park Hye-sang's "That Day." The second part features the overture of the newly premiered creative opera "Peppermint Candy" from last year and pianist Kim Sun-wook's "Mendelssohn Piano Concerto No. 1 in G minor," among others. The conducting and performance will be led by artistic director Yeo Ja-kyung of the Gangnam Symphony Orchestra and the KBS Symphony Orchestra, respectively. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the concert will be held without an audience, but it can be watched live via streaming on the National Theater of Korea's Naver TV and YouTube channels. A Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism official stated, "To deliver vivid video and sound from the venue to the online audience, top domestic classical music broadcast and sound experts, producer Han Bong-geun and sound director Choi Jin, will participate."
