Hwasun-gun to Host the 2021 World Forest Healing Congress
[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Young-gyun] Jeollanam-do Hwasun-gun (Governor Gu Chung-gon) announced on the 29th that it will hold the '2021 World Forest Healing Conference' from October 29 to 31 next year at Manyeonsan Healing Forest and Hanium Culture and Sports Center.
At the Forest Healing Conference, the county plans to showcase various events such as forest healing and forest interpretation contests, healing forums, healing concerts, and tourism.
Since the spread of COVID-19, global interest in health promotion and healing activities through forests has increased, and many countries are reportedly planning to participate.
About 700 people from 10 countries including the United States, Germany, Australia, and Finland, and about 11,300 people nationwide, totaling approximately 12,000 participants are expected.
The county hopes to leap forward as a center of forest healing through this event.
With over 100,000 people enjoying forest healing annually in Korea alone, the economic effect of hosting the conference is also expected to be significant.
The conference involves the Korea Forest Welfare Promotion Institute and the Korea Forest Healing Forum as specialized forest healing organizations, with support from the Korea Forest Service and Jeollanam-do.
To host the conference, the county formed the World Forest Healing Conference Promotion Committee last October, and this month held a working-level council to discuss the event schedule and the composition of the working staff.
Manyeonsan Healing Forest is a local attraction connected by the Five Senses Connection Trail, Healing Forest Center, Dongguri Lake Park, and Suman-ri Ecological Forest Park.
The forest resources of this place, boasting a natural scenic beauty, are widely known through SNS and internet blogs, attracting hundreds of thousands of tourists annually.
