Six More Deaths Related to Bucheon Nursing Hospital... Total of 32 Fatalities
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Six more people have died in connection with the cohort isolation at a nursing hospital in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province.
According to Bucheon City on the 26th, among the confirmed cases at Hyoplus Nursing Hospital in Sangdong, Bucheon, four people?a woman in her 70s, a man in his 80s, and two women in their 90s?died while waiting for hospital beds since the 25th. Additionally, a man in his 60s and a man in his 80s were transferred to other hospitals for treatment but passed away. Of the six, five were patients and one was a hospital staff member.
This brings the total number of deaths related to this nursing hospital to 32. Currently, 56 people, including 39 patients and 17 staff members, are isolated within the hospital. Among them, 50 people who tested positive for COVID-19?excluding six who tested negative?are waiting inside the nursing hospital as they have not been assigned dedicated beds at other hospitals.
This nursing hospital was placed under cohort isolation after six care workers were first confirmed positive on the 11th, followed by a mass confirmation of patients. Since the first death of a male patient in his 70s on the 13th, the situation has continued to worsen as patients have died while waiting for dedicated beds at other hospitals.
