Korean Air Denies Establishing Separate Aviation Maintenance Corporation as False Statement
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyewon] Korean Air stated on the 23rd that some media reports about establishing a separate corporation for aircraft maintenance (MRO) or spinning off the Aerospace Business Division are "completely untrue."
This was a rebuttal to speculations that a new corporation would be established by integrating the MRO organizations of Korean Air and Asiana Airlines following the acquisition of Asiana Airlines.
Korean Air released a statement titled "Position on Reports of MRO Spin-off and Separate Corporation" on the same day, explaining that "the existing maintenance volume of Korean Air itself is sufficient," and "efficient operations are possible by actively utilizing the maintenance facilities, personnel, and capabilities held after the integration of the two companies."
They added, "Such speculative reports can cause employment insecurity among workers," emphasizing that "they do not help the successful integration."
