Sajinpo and Sinri Tunnel Renovated as Historical and Cultural Spaces
Cultural Heritage Administration and Korea Rail Network Authority Sign MOU for Cultural Heritage Revitalization Today
The Cultural Heritage Administration and the Korea Rail Network Authority will sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) today (the 15th) in writing to efficiently utilize and manage railway facilities for the revitalization of cultural heritage. By repurposing disused tunnels with low utilization value, they aim to address the shortage of storage facilities for excavated artifacts and create cultural spaces using these artifacts, thereby increasing the potential for their use as regional cultural resources. The first target sites are the Daejeon Sajinp'o Tunnel and the Jeonju Sinri Tunnel. They plan to renovate these sites into storage facilities and historical cultural spaces next year.
