Among all coastal and offshore fishing vessels in Korea last year, offshore and coastal fisheries decreased by 49.4% and 40.3%, respectively, compared to 2000. Statistics Korea explained, "This appears to be due to the decrease in the fishing household population and the continuous reduction of fishing vessels."

Compared to 2013, single-person households increased by 40.6%, two-person households by 67.0%, and households with four or more persons by 38.9%. On the other hand, three-person households decreased by 28.9%.
