Exchange of Opinions on Trilateral Cooperation Areas
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 9th that the 5th Korea-China-Japan Cyber Policy Consultative Meeting was held via video conference with China and Japan.
The meeting was led by Lee Chung-myeon, International Security Ambassador of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wang Lei, Cyber Coordinator of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Takeshi Akahori, Ambassador for the United Nations and Cyber Policy of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with officials from related agencies in the field of cybersecurity also attending.
The three countries exchanged views on the assessment of cyber threats including the impact of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), international and regional consultative bodies such as the United Nations and the ASEAN Regional Security Forum, and potential areas for trilateral cooperation.

The Korea-China-Japan Cyber Policy Consultative Meeting has been held in rotation among the three countries since 2014 and serves as a regular consultative body to promote regional cooperation in the field of cybersecurity.
