Hanwha Group Delivers Sanitation Supplies to 10,000 Socially Vulnerable Households
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Hanwha Group is producing personal hygiene product sets to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and winter flu, and will deliver them to 10,000 socially vulnerable households.
This quarantine supply was urgently ordered and produced by Hanwha Group in response to the recent spread of COVID-19 and the implementation of social distancing level 2.5. The items include 15 masks, hand sanitizer, and portable disinfectant wipes, and will be distributed to socially vulnerable groups who have difficulty purchasing personal hygiene products.
Seven social service teams from Hanwha Corporation, Hanwha Solutions, Hanwha Construction, Hanwha Aerospace, Hanwha Systems, Hanwha Life Insurance, and Hanwha General Insurance plan to deliver the personal hygiene product sets to more than 20 institutions, including welfare centers, veterans affairs offices, nursing homes, and single mother welfare facilities, with which they have sisterhood relationships, by the end of this month.
Meanwhile, Hanwha Group is actively participating in various activities to fulfill corporate social responsibility while overcoming COVID-19. Chairman Kim Seung-yeon emphasized the role of companies in economic, social, and environmental sustainability in his speech commemorating the 68th anniversary of Hanwha Group’s founding last October, calling for company-wide ESG management, social contribution, and win-win cooperation.
To help resolve the shortage of hospital beds, Hanwha is providing the Hanwha Life Park training center located in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, as a residential treatment center for Gyeonggi Province. As the shortage of beds in the metropolitan area worsened due to the recent resurgence of COVID-19, Hanwha decided to contribute to alleviating the situation. This is the second time Hanwha Life Insurance’s training center has been provided as a residential treatment center. In March and April, over 200 mild patients were admitted to Hanwha Life Park, recovered healthily, and returned to their daily lives.
Hanwha Corporation and Hanwha Solutions donated 150,000 masks in February when the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions were designated as special management zones. Hanwha Total also delivered quarantine supplies such as 10,000 masks, 2,400 protective suits, and 2,000 hand sanitizers to Seosan City, Chungcheongnam-do, where its business site is located.
