Opening of Gangbuk-gu 'Uridongne Care Center' Branches 1 and 2
Suyu 2-dong and Insu-dong to Provide Universal Elementary After-School Care Service... Conveniently Located Near Ui-Sinseol Line Stations
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangbuk-gu (District Mayor Park Gyeom-su) has consecutively opened the 1st and 2nd branches of the elementary school childcare facility ‘Uri Dongnae Kiwoom Center’.
‘Uri Dongnae Kiwoom Center’ is a place available to any child aged 6 to 12. It provides universal childcare services regardless of parents' income level and aims to be a space where children can learn while playing.
The newly opened centers are conveniently located near stations on the Uisinseol Line. The 1st branch, Suyu Center, is located at 30 Samyang-ro 136-gil, near the April 19th Democratic Cemetery Station. It has a maximum capacity of 36 children and has been operating since the 23rd of last month.
The 2nd branch, Insu Center, is located at 11-3 Insubong-ro 48-gil. It can accommodate up to 24 children and is close to Hwaggye Station. It opened on the 7th of this month.
Both centers have their own unique features. The 1st branch is a hybrid model combining the strengths of local children’s centers and Kiwoom Centers. It blends the basic programs of local children’s centers with Kiwoom Center’s educational methods that foster children’s autonomous learning abilities. The 2nd branch is characterized by remodeling an existing detached house with a yard into a playground integrated with nature.
Suyu and Insu Centers plan to offer a variety of programs including basic academic guidance and cultural, artistic, and sports activities that children will enjoy.
Operating hours for the 1st branch are Monday to Friday from 1 PM to 8 PM, and the 2nd branch until 9 PM. On Saturdays, only the 1st branch operates from 9 AM to 1 PM. During school vacations, the 1st branch opens from 8 AM and the 2nd branch from 9 AM. Currently, vacation hours are applied as in-person classes are not held due to COVID-19.
The usage fee is under 50,000 KRW per month, including material costs, program fees, and snacks. Those wishing to use the service can apply via the ‘Uri Dongnae Kiwoom Portal’ or by phone, then visit the center for consultation. The district plans to open the 3rd and 4th Kiwoom Centers next year in Samyang-dong and Suyu 1-dong areas.
