Blue House Responds to Approval Rating Questions: "We Must Renew Our Resolve"
"We Will Not Be Swayed by President Moon's Approval Ratings"
Focus on Containing the Spread of COVID-19,
Vowing to Achieve Success in Quarantine Efforts
[Asia Economy, Reporter Ryu Jungmin] The Blue House responded to questions regarding the decline in President Moon Jae-in's approval rating by stating, "We believe we must renew our resolve."
On December 8, Blue House spokesperson Kang Minseok told reporters, "We believe we must renew our resolve," adding, "The answer is already clear, and we are working to resolve the issue accordingly." Kang made these remarks in response to questions about the reasons for the decline in approval ratings, including the conflict between Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae and Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl.
While emphasizing the principle of not being swayed by fluctuations in public opinion polls, the Blue House also expressed its commitment to continue efforts to win the public's support.
Spokesperson Kang stated, "Since approval ratings can rise and fall, there is no need to be elated or discouraged by them."
However, Kang also emphasized, "Yesterday, the President said that he would make every effort to control the spread of COVID-19 in order to protect the lives and safety of the people." Kang added, "We will overcome this final hurdle, achieve success in our quarantine efforts, and, by renewing our resolve, move forward to proactively face new challenges."
