Professors Kwon Jeongsuk and Woo Jeongyun of Gyeongnam University Receive Minister of Education Commendation
Awarded in the 'Student Startup Promotion Merit' and 'Industry-Academia Cooperation Merit' Categories

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Woo-kwon] Professors Kwon Jeong-suk and Woo Jeong-yoon of Gyeongnam National University were selected as contributors to industry-academia cooperation at the ‘2020 Industry-Academia Cooperation EXPO’ hosted by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea, and received commendations from the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education.
The event, held from the 2nd to the 10th for about nine days under the theme ‘Towards a New Future, Adding Change to the Era,’ was organized as a communication platform to share the achievements of industry-academia cooperation policies carried out jointly by the government, academia, and industry.
The event was conducted both online and offline to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and on the 2nd, an ‘Industry-Academia Cooperation Contributor Awards Ceremony’ was held to honor those who contributed to the Leading University for Customized Industry-Academia Cooperation (LINC+) project.
At this ceremony, Professors Kwon and Woo, affiliated with the Gyeongnam National University LINC+ project group, were recognized for their contributions to entrepreneurship education activities and industry-academia cooperation achievements, receiving commendations from the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education in the ‘Student Entrepreneurship Activation Contributor’ and ‘Industry-Academia Cooperation Contributor’ categories, respectively.
First, Professor Kwon was recognized in the ‘Student Entrepreneurship Activation Contributor’ category for establishing a support system for entrepreneurship education, expanding and solidifying entrepreneurship courses, revitalizing entrepreneurship clubs, and strengthening student intellectual property education leading to patent applications, contributing to the cultivation of creative and convergent talents and entrepreneurship education activities.

Next, Professor Woo was recognized in the ‘Industry-Academia Cooperation Contributor’ category for his achievements in securing government, local government, and regional innovation institution projects, creating employment and linking student employment, and his award-winning experience in the technology cooperation field at the Small and Medium Business Technology Innovation Exhibition, among various industry-academia cooperation experiences and accomplishments.
