[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Jung Jin-taek, Vice President of Samsung Heavy Industries, has been promoted to President and CEO.
Samsung Heavy Industries announced on the 8th that Vice President Jung Jin-taek has been appointed as President and CEO.
The new President Jung was born in 1961 in Masan, graduated from the Department of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering at Pusan National University, and joined Samsung Heavy Industries in 1984. He has served as head of the sales team, risk management team, and technology development headquarters. While working, he earned a master's degree in business administration from the University of Illinois, USA, and has been serving as the shipyard director since 2020.
A Samsung Heavy Industries official stated, "President Jung is expected to successfully lead the overcoming of the shipbuilding and offshore business crisis based on his extensive knowledge and experience in design, sales, production, and management support, as well as his global capabilities."
