Jongno-gu Supports Hanbok Photo Shoot for Multicultural Families
Jongno-gu Promotes 'Paestori (Family Story)' Program for Multicultural Families to Wear Hanbok and Take Family Photos
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jongno-gu (District Mayor Kim Young-jong) is conducting the 'Paestory (Family Story)' program from October to this month, where multicultural families in the area wear Hanbok and take family photos to create lasting memories.
This program was planned to support multicultural families in living confidently as members of Korean society, contributing to enhancing intimacy among family members and emotional stability.
By wearing Hanbok, traditional Korean clothing, and taking photos at traditional houses or palaces, the program also provides an opportunity to deepen understanding of traditional culture.
The participants were selected by the Jongno-gu Healthy Family and Multicultural Family Support Center, choosing a total of 15 families, including low-income families and those with three or more generations living together, residing in Jongno-gu.
The photos taken will be produced and delivered in the form of framed pictures and albums so that the participants can keep and cherish them for a long time.
After the project ends, satisfaction surveys, evaluations, identification of improvement points, and internal staff evaluation meetings will be conducted.
Along with this, Jongno-gu has been operating various programs through the Healthy Family and Multicultural Family Support Center, such as the 2019 'World Beyond Textbooks, Cultural Exploration Corner to Corner' to support the healthy growth of children from multicultural families, the multicultural family camp 'Rainbow Family's Autumn Story,' and the 'Jongno Multicultural Harmony Festival.' These efforts aim to improve awareness of multicultural families and foster positive family relationships.
Additionally, in January this year, as part of the 2019 Jongno Hanbok Festival planning program 'Hanbok Upcycling Project,' an event was held to deliver Hanbok donated last year to multicultural families in the area.
From July to August last year, the district received over 240 Hanbok donated by more than 100 donors nationwide over about a month.
The donated Hanbok included precious stories, from those tailored by mothers for weddings to the first Hanbok purchased for the eldest child's first birthday celebration.
The district repaired some of the donated Hanbok into custom-fitted Hanbok after expert inspection and delivered them to residents of multicultural families.
