View original image[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] 'Golf Queen' Park In-bee (32, KB Financial Group) has joined the race for the championship.
On the 5th (Korean time) at Old American Golf Club in The Colony, Texas, USA (par 71, 6,475 yards), during the second day of the LPGA Tour Volunteers of America Classic (total prize money $1.75 million), she posted a 3-under-par round to leap to a tie for 5th place (2-under-par 140). 'Number 1' Ko Jin-young (25) is also in this group. Noh Ye-rim and Jessica Korda (both from the USA), and Anna Nordqvist (Sweden) are fiercely competing at the top of the leaderboard, tied for first place (4-under-par 138).
Park In-bee started from a tie for 18th place, 4 strokes behind, and recorded 6 birdies and 3 bogeys. Notably, she made two pairs of consecutive birdies on holes 5-6 and 11-12. Her tee shot accuracy was outstanding, missing the fairway only twice. She had 28 putts during the round. However, it was a bit disappointing that her greens in regulation rate was only 72% for two consecutive days. She is 2 strokes behind the joint leaders, aiming for her second win of the season and 21st career victory since winning the ISPS Handa Women's Australian Open in February.

Lindsey Weaver (USA) made a strong showing, shooting 3-under-par to move into 4th place (3-under-par 139). Ko Jin-young added 2-under-par with 5 birdies and 3 bogeys. Her fairway hit rate was 92%, and she had 27 putts, showing an upward trend. Winning this tournament is directly linked to maintaining her world No. 1 ranking and securing a ticket to the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship.
