Kia Motors Union to Hold Main Negotiation on 7th... Additional Strikes if Talks Fail
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] The Kia Motors labor union plans to hold the 15th main negotiation session on the 7th and, if it ends in failure, will proceed with another partial strike.
On the morning of the 4th, the Kia Motors union held a Strike Countermeasure Committee (Strike Committee) meeting to finalize future protest plans.
Accordingly, the union decided to conduct the main negotiation and normal work on the 7th. However, if the negotiation fails that day, the union will resume a partial strike on the 8th by reducing work hours by 2 hours per shift. Furthermore, from the 9th to the 11th, the union will continue to reduce work hours by 4 hours per shift each day.

The Kia Motors union is demanding ▲ a 120,000 KRW increase in base pay ▲ payment of 30% of last year's operating profit as performance bonuses ▲ installation of electric and hydrogen vehicle module parts factories within existing plants ▲ expansion of bonus payments to be included in regular wages ▲ extension of retirement age, among other demands. The next Strike Committee meeting is scheduled for the 11th.
