Kim Tae-nyeon: "Power Institution Reform Passed the Final Hurdle... Reform Legislation to be Completed by the 9th"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jin-young] Kim Tae-nyeon, floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, emphasized on the 4th that "the reform of power institutions has passed the final hurdle" and pledged to complete the reform legislation by the 9th.
At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly that morning, Floor Leader Kim said, "Since the inauguration of the Moon Jae-in administration, the reform of power institutions has been continuously pursued without interruption, and there is not much time left until it is fully completed."

View original imageHe stated, "We will not relax our vigilance until the very end and will definitely complete the reform legislation by the 9th," adding, "The National Intelligence Service Act has passed the Intelligence Committee. The High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Agency (Gong-su-cheo) will definitely be launched."
He continued, "The reform legislation for power institutions will establish a system of mutual checks and balances among Gong-su-cheo, the police, and the prosecution, laying the foundation to prevent abuse of power by these institutions," and said, "We will create a trusted National Intelligence Service, a serving police force, a democratic prosecution that meets the public's expectations, and a fair Gong-su-cheo."
Meanwhile, regarding the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccines and treatments, he said, "The Democratic Party has additionally allocated 900 billion won in contingency funds, securing a vaccine budget of 1.3 trillion won," and urged, "We hope the government will make every effort to ensure both rapid vaccine procurement and the safety and efficacy of the vaccines."
