The Korea Safety Awards were established in 2002 by the National Fire Agency and the Korea Safety Certification Institute to raise safety awareness among the public and companies and to encourage voluntary safety management. This award is the most prestigious in the field of safety management in Korea.
In this evaluation, LG Science Park received high marks for its solid crisis response system within the workplace, the establishment of fire safety equipment certified by the official U.S. safety certification body (UL) and international fire safety certification (FM), and its advanced fire detection systems.
Completed in October 2017, LG Science Park is a complex research cluster where R&D talents from various LG fields such as electronics, chemistry, bio, software, and telecommunications gather in one place to create technologies for future growth. It consists of 20 research buildings constructed on a site of approximately 170,000 square meters (about 24 soccer fields). The total floor area of the research buildings is about 1.11 million square meters (approximately 337,000 pyeong), which is more than one-third the total area of Yeouido, Seoul.
