Expansion of Support for Housing Stability and Self-Reliance Foundations for Low-Income Youth
[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Goheung, Jeonnam is attracting residents' attention by implementing policies to improve the poor housing conditions of low-income youth and reduce economic burdens such as tuition fees.
Goheung-gun, Jeonnam announced on the 30th that starting next year, it will implement separate housing benefits payments for young people who live away from their parents in other regions due to studies or job seeking activities.
The separate housing benefits payment for youth provides separate housing benefits to unmarried children aged 19 to under 30 who live in a different city or county from their parents among households receiving housing benefits.
The payment amount varies depending on household characteristics and residential area, but if the youth rents a residence in Seoul, support of up to 310,000 KRW per month is provided.
Pre-application can be made from the 1st of next month at the eup/myeon office of the address where the parents reside, with documents such as the youth lease contract, certificate of enrollment, certificate of employment, and proof of rent payment.
The selection criteria confirm eligibility if the recognized income, calculated by assessing the income and property of the applicant household, is below 45% of the median income (2,194,331 KRW for a four-person household), and payments will be made monthly on the 20th starting January 2021 to the youth's designated bank account.
