[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seoul Facilities Corporation (Chairman Seongil Jo) announced that since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic this year, it has successfully established internal business meetings in a non-face-to-face online video conference format, surpassing a total of 3,000 sessions, significantly improving work efficiency.
Since March, when COVID-19 spread, the corporation has introduced a remote video conferencing system for various meetings and reports, open innovation, in-house training, and overall internal business, surpassing 3,000 sessions as of the end of October.
A total of 3,366 sessions were conducted, including 2,134 internal meetings and reports, 23 open innovation sessions, 123 remote video training sessions, and 1,086 other external meetings. This averages about 22 sessions per day.
The expansion of remote video conferencing has led to improved work efficiency. Employees can immediately gather and discuss whenever necessary without restrictions of time and space, enabling those working from home or in distributed work arrangements?changed work styles due to COVID-19?to perform their duties as if they were working in the office.
In particular, considering the corporation’s characteristics, it is evaluated that the system has greatly reduced the commuting time for workers at field sites located throughout Seoul.
Additionally, as video conferencing has become a common work method, cost savings of approximately 460 million KRW have been realized, including travel expenses (190 million KRW), training expenses (160 million KRW), meeting expenses (60 million KRW), and paper printing expenses (50 million KRW).
The corporation plans to reinvest the costs saved through video conferencing into projects preparing for the post-COVID era, such as expanding smart workstations and improving wired and wireless network environments.
Especially, to enable employees to participate more smoothly in video conferences, from November, 12 personal video conference rooms have been newly established and are being operated within the building.
Furthermore, the corporation plans to produce and distribute videos containing know-how on establishing video conferencing work methods, contributing to the introduction and establishment of video conferencing systems in related organizations.
