The project group conducted the SW Convergence Works Competition, held jointly with the conference as a joint session, both online and offline.
The project group introduced the results of industry-academia cooperation projects carried out over eight months since last April. These projects are practical initiatives guided by faculty advisors and industry experts to cultivate field-oriented practical SW skills among students participating in the project group’s SW departments.
Despite the difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic over the past eight months, students proceeded with the industry-academia cooperation projects and presented the completed results as 29 papers at the SW Convergence Works Competition and 3 papers at the international academic conference MITA2020.
Among these, six domestic teams with creative and highly complete works and one team at the international academic conference were awarded outstanding paper awards.
The award-winning papers covered diverse topics such as “Auction System Using Smart Contracts,” “Intelligent Ventilation System Based on Weather Conditions,” and “Recommendation and Prediction System for the Korean Stock Market Using a New AI-Based Approach.”
The team that received the outstanding paper award at the international academic conference for the “Recommendation and Prediction System for the Korean Stock Market Using a New AI-Based Approach” utilized natural language processing technology and the deep learning technique tuned-LSTM, which are challenging for undergraduate students.
By analyzing 10 years of KOSPI and KOSDAQ company data, they completed an AI-based system that recommends the optimal months and weeks to buy or sell to maximize profits based on that day’s Google News and Twitter tweets.

Director Jo Mi-kyung said, “This event, held instead of an on-campus exhibition due to COVID-19, became an opportunity for students’ capabilities to grow to the next level,” and added, “All industry-academia cooperation project results will be registered in the Dongmyung University open source community, Dongmyung University DevOps, to be made available for juniors and others to use.”
