Daejeon City and HN Power Co., Ltd. Develop and Demonstrate 'Daejeon-Type Hydrogen Fuel Cell'
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City is launching the development and demonstration of the ‘Daejeon-type hydrogen fuel cell’ in collaboration with the local fuel cell manufacturer HN Power Co., Ltd.
On the 29th, according to the city, the city and HN Power were recently selected for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ core technology development project for hydrogen fuel cells, enabling HN Power to demonstrate the fuel cells it independently developed.
Previously, the city participated in the Ministry’s contest with a plan to demonstrate the developed product at Hanbat Arboretum for two years to achieve the hydrogen fuel cell technology development goals.
This project aims to invest 240 million KRW in national funds and 60 million KRW from the fuel cell developer to promote development and demonstration over 24 months from December this year to November 2022, with the goal of obtaining official certification (KGS, KS) for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) with an efficiency of over 90%.
Hydrogen fuel cells are a new energy source that produces electricity through electrochemical reactions without combustion, emitting almost no pollutants, and their safety has already been verified in advanced countries, posing no risk.
