[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] With the implementation of social distancing level 2, the emphasis on COVID-19 prevention measures has increased.
Eunpyeong-gu (District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) has received favorable evaluations from external organizations as a result of its efforts to revitalize the local economy and improve residents' welfare while focusing on prevention and treatment during the COVID-19 disaster situation.
As of the end of November, it was announced that 94 projects were selected across 31 business and contest fields.
This is interpreted as the result of not letting go of various resident projects even though administrative efforts were concentrated on COVID-19. In fact, the projects selected in evaluations by Seoul City and external organizations were closely related to residents' lives.
First, it won the grand prize at the 2020 Korea Healthy City Awards contest, which discovers and selects excellent healthy city cases targeting member cities of metropolitan and basic local governments nationwide.

It also provided various contents to encourage walking culture, such as walking clubs and stamp tours.
Along with this, it is being re-recognized as a smart city by winning the grand prize at the ‘2020 Korea Knowledge Innovation Smart City Awards.’ The Eunpyeong Integrated Control Center has built a smart city integrated platform that protects residents' lives and property by providing real-time CCTV footage. The ‘Smart Deep Learning Selective Surveillance Solution Construction Project’ is also underway to recognize and search more CCTV cameras.
Additionally, the district received recognition in various fields from a total of 31 external organizations, including the Presidential Award for the Jung-sang Information Library in the ‘2020 National Library Operation Evaluation’ hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, selection as the top comprehensive autonomous district in the financial analysis evaluation hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and designation as an excellent lifelong learning city in the re-designation evaluation hosted by the Ministry of Education.
