Hong Jun-pyo: "Kimhae New Airport Expansion Plan Was Wrongly Decided from the Start"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Former Liberty Korea Party leader Hong Joon-pyo emphasized once again the theory of four major gateway airports, stating that "the Park Geun-hye administration's expansion plan for Gimhae New Airport was a fundamentally flawed policy" amid the controversy over the cancellation of Gimhae New Airport.
On the 25th, Hong said through Facebook, "Although the five governors of the Yeongnam region agreed to the policy out of concern for political turmoil, it was a fundamentally wrong decision from the start."
He added, "If at that time Milyang or Gadeokdo had been chosen, the issues of Daegu Integrated New Airport or Gadeokdo New Airport would not have even been raised. Recently, some media in Daegu have criticized my theory of four major gateway airports as a distraction, while some media in Busan have condemned it as an insertion. Both are claims rooted in regional selfishness," he pointed out.
