View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] The Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 24th that it has appointed Lee Yujin, an environmental movement expert and director of the Green Union Research Institute, as the Chief Policy Advisor for the Gwangju-type Artificial Intelligence (AI)-Green New Deal to ensure its successful implementation.
Gwangju City appointed the advisor to provide professional and policy advice from the private sector to promptly address urgent issues in the Green New Deal industrial sector.
The Chief Policy Advisor for the Green New Deal will play an advisory role in networking with the Gwangju City energy new industry policy formulation and the Green Growth Committee, among others.
Dr. Lee Yujin is an environmental movement expert who began active work at the Green Union in 2000 after witnessing environmental pollution and damage caused by the withdrawal of U.S. military bases in the Philippines.
She has actively participated in green policy movements, serving as co-chair of the Green Party's joint policy committee and co-executive committee chair, and is currently actively serving as a member of the Green Growth Committee and the Central Environmental Policy Committee under the Prime Minister's Office.
On the 23rd, Dr. Lee delivered a keynote presentation titled "Challenges for Korean Society in the Transition to Net-Zero" alongside Mayor Lee Yong-seop at a forum hosted by the Green Growth Committee under the Prime Minister's Office, drawing enthusiastic responses from the audience.
On July 21, Gwangju announced the vision for the Gwangju-type Artificial Intelligence (AI)-Green New Deal, presenting strategies and key tasks to realize "Gwangju, an energy self-sufficient city by 2045," and is rapidly advancing policies for the Gwangju-type AI-Green New Deal to create a "carbon-neutral, energy self-sufficient city" that citizens can experience firsthand.
Mayor Lee Yong-seop said, "We have high expectations in welcoming Dr. Lee Yujin, who has extensive experience and professional insight in the environmental field, as the Chief Policy Advisor for Gwangju's Green New Deal," and added, "We ask for her generous advice to achieve the bold goal of transforming Gwangju into a '2045 carbon-neutral, energy self-sufficient city,' five years ahead of other cities."
