"Graduated with Galaxy S20 FE for 50,000 Won"
Public Subsidies Increased with Over 300,000 KRW Support
Galaxy Z Flip LTE Model Price Drops to the 90,000 KRW Range
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] "I graduated with the Galaxy S20 FE for 50,000 won."
The Galaxy S20 FE is being sold at nearly free-phone levels just one month after its release.
According to the industry on the 24th, online and offline retailers are providing subsidies of over 300,000 won, selling the Galaxy S20 FE for around 50,000 won.
Since the 16th, KT and LG Uplus have doubled the official subsidies for the Galaxy S20 FE up to 480,000 won, reducing the purchase burden. The Galaxy S20 FE’s retail price is 899,800 won.
When using a 5G plan in the 80,000 won range at carrier stores, it is common to purchase the Galaxy S20 FE for around 380,000 won. So-called "Seongji" dealerships offer illegal subsidies exceeding 300,000 won on the condition of subscribing to 80,000 won or higher plans and additional services, bringing the price down to nearly free-phone levels.
Since last month, inventory clearance has intensified for the Galaxy Z Flip LTE model, which is also being sold in the 90,000 won range. The retail price dropped to around 1,180,000 won by mid-October, and subsidies have been applied even to older foldable models following the iPhone release.
There are also many posts stating that mid-range phones like the LG Velvet and Q92 can be purchased with so-called "chabi" (payback). The Velvet offers up to 100,000 won in chabi, and the Q92 is being sold as a free phone. Illegal subsidies are being provided for mid-range phones as well to attract 5G subscribers.

So-called "Seongji" stores often require subscription to 80,000 won or higher 5G plans, or LTE plans in the 69,000 won range with additional services, in exchange for illegal subsidies exceeding official subsidies. Although the device price appears cheaper, the overall fee burden increases accordingly, so caution is advised.
