Jeju Coast Guard Conducts Fire Prevention Campaign Targeting Coastal Fishing Vessels
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters (Jeju) Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] The Jeju Coast Guard announced that from the 23rd of this month to the 2nd of next month, it will conduct a 'Fire Prevention Campaign' targeting offshore fishing vessels (10 tons or more) at Jeju, Hallim, and Chuja ports.
This campaign was promoted based on the recognition that it is necessary to carry out captain-centered fire prevention activities so that captains themselves pay more attention to fire prevention and response.
During the campaign, the Coast Guard's self-formed 'Fishing Vessel Fire Prevention T/F Team (11 members)' will directly visit offshore fishing vessels (which have many crew members and operate for long periods) to distribute and educate captains with pamphlets containing essential pre-departure inspection items and 'Captain's Essential Action Guidelines' to minimize casualties in case of fire, providing time for communication.
Additionally, to ensure that crew members inside the cabin can immediately recognize a fire and move to safe locations, fire detectors (for installation inside cabins) and portable megaphones (including siren functions) will be distributed free of charge.
