5 COVID-19 Cases Confirmed Overnight in Jeonnam
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Five additional COVID-19 local infection cases were confirmed overnight in Jeonnam.
According to Jeonnam Province on the 23rd, as of 10 a.m., the total number of confirmed cases in Jeonnam is 359, including 309 local infections and 50 imported cases. Since the 7th, the number of infections has increased to a total of 164.
Four additional cases were reported in the Suncheon area. Among them, confirmed cases Jeonnam 355 and 359 were contacts of Jeonnam 328, a secondary infection case, and were confirmed to have had contact at a pub and other locations in Suncheon.
Confirmed cases Jeonnam 356 and 357 were contacts of Jeonnam 349, and their infection routes are under investigation.
They were tested at the Suncheon City Public Health Center screening clinic on the 21st, and after testing positive at the Health and Environment Research Institute, they were isolated and hospitalized at Gangjin Medical Center and Mokpo City Medical Center.
Jeonnam 358, residing in Goheung, is the spouse of Songpa-gu 422 confirmed case and tested positive before release from quarantine. They are currently receiving inpatient treatment at Gangjin Medical Center.
The epidemiological investigation joint cooperation T/F team formed by the province is conducting an in-depth epidemiological investigation to identify contacts.

Kang Young-gu, Director of Health and Welfare Bureau of Jeonnam Province, said, “This is a critical time when the interest and cooperation of residents are essential. Personal hygiene rules such as wearing masks and washing hands must be strictly followed.” He added, “If you have suspicious symptoms, cancel outings and gatherings, actively visit screening clinics for testing, and refrain from small family and acquaintance gatherings.”
