This is what civil servant A, assigned as a proctor for the middle and high school new teacher appointment exam on the 21st, said. A said, "There is chaos among the proctors because a confirmed COVID-19 case was reported in Noryangjin the day before," adding, "There is anxiety that a symptomatic person might deceive and still come to the exam site."
Tension is rising among exam proctors as a cluster of COVID-19 cases has emerged at a large teacher appointment exam preparation academy in Noryangjin, Seoul, ahead of the teacher appointment exam.
On this day, a total of 60,233 candidates will take the exam at 110 test centers nationwide. Confirmed cases are not allowed to take the exam, and those in self-quarantine or subject to COVID-19 testing will take the exam at separate test centers.
Each city and provincial education office will investigate whether candidates visited the Noryangjin academy through a pre-examination health questionnaire, and those who did will take the exam in separate rooms to minimize contact with general examinees.
However, unexpected situations can arise at any time, and anxiety remains among teachers and civil servants serving as proctors. Proctor B said, "Since this exam is held only once a year, it is hard for candidates to give up," expressing concern, "I worry that some might come to take the exam despite the risks."
Another proctor said, "I want to ventilate the exam rooms frequently, but since it is cold, there might be complaints from the candidates."
