Graduate Students from Jeonnam National University Win 'Grand Prize' at Artificial Intelligence Competition
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Graduate students at Chonnam National University won the grand prize at an artificial intelligence (AI) competition.
According to Chonnam National University on the 20th, Kim Hyo-seok, a doctoral student, and Kang Sung-min, a master's graduate from the Information Security Cooperative Program, recently won the grand prize and a cash prize of 10 million won at the ‘Industrial Control System Security Threat Detection AI Competition HAIcon2020’ jointly hosted by the National Intelligence Service and the National Security Research Institute.
‘HAICon 2020’ is the first domestic competition to develop machine learning and deep learning models using the HAI dataset created for industrial control system security research, with a total of 888 teams participating nationwide.
For this competition, the Convergence Security Core Talent Training Project Group within the Information Security Cooperative Program at Chonnam National University provided related education, including special lectures on ‘AI-based ICS security using the dataset (HAI1.0) from the National Security Research Institute’ for enrolled students.
The project group operates the Convergence Security Graduate Program within the Information Security Cooperative Program and strives to cultivate excellent information security talents through industry-academia cooperation projects and special lectures by outstanding domestic and international experts.
Meanwhile, the Information Security Cooperative Program will begin its ‘Second Recruitment for New Students for the First Semester of 2021’ starting next month on the 1st.

For the full-time master's program in the Information Security Cooperative Program, full tuition is supported every semester, and upon admission, students receive a basic research allowance of 800,000 won per month and an additional research allowance of up to 1 million won.
