Jeonnam Korean Women Farmers Association Hosts 'Love Kimchi Making' Sharing Event
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Jeonnam Korea Women Farmers Central Association (President Kim Nongsun) announced on the 20th that it carried out the ‘Love Kimchi Making and Sharing Event’ to practice warm sharing with neighbors in need during the kimchi-making season.
The event held at the Jeonnam Provincial Government Meeting Square was attended by about 50 members of the Korea Women Farmers Association, Jeonnam Governor Kim Young-rok, Jeonnam Provincial Council Chairman Kim Han-jong, Vice Chairman Kim Sung-il, Kang Hee-sik, Deputy Director of the Nonghyup Jeonnam Regional Headquarters, Park Jong-ho, Director of the Korea Rural Community Corporation Jeonnam Regional Headquarters, and others.
The 150 boxes of kimchi were made with 600 heads of napa cabbage and seasoning ingredients directly farmed by the Korea Women Farmers members.
The kimchi will be delivered to two social welfare facilities including Hampyeong Seongae-won and Yeongam Sarang-ui Jip, as well as 108 underprivileged households in the province.
President Kim Nongsun said, “Since 2015, we have been practicing the Love Kimchi Making and Sharing Event,” and added, “We hope that through this event again this year, our neighbors in need can spend a slightly warmer and more heartwarming winter.”
Governor Kim said, “This year has been very difficult for farmers due to COVID-19, cold damage caused by abnormal low temperatures, heavy rains, and successive typhoons,” and expressed gratitude, saying, “I thank the Korea Women Farmers members for taking the lead in making and sharing love kimchi with neighbors in need during these difficult times.”

Meanwhile, the Korea Women Farmers Jeonnam Provincial Association visited Gurye-gun, which suffered great damage from the heavy rains in August, delivering relief supplies worth about 10 million won, including 200 blankets and 3,000 pairs of coated gloves needed by disaster victims, and also carried out emergency recovery volunteer activities.
