iPhone 12 Mini More Popular... Pro Max Preferred More by Men
KT Launches iPhone 12 Mini and Pro Max
Average Dawn Delivery Time 40 Minutes... First Receipt at 12:05 AM
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The iPhone 12 mini model has proven to be more popular than the iPhone 12 Pro Max. The iPhone 12 Pro Max was slightly more favored by men, while the mini was preferred more by women.
On the 20th, KT officially launched the iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 12 mini at nationwide stores and its official online mall, KT Shop. According to the pre-order results at KT Shop, the reservation ratio for the iPhone 12 Pro Max and mini was 47% and 53%, respectively. The clear preference for the iPhone 12 mini indicates that many consumers had been waiting for a ‘smaller screen’ amid the recent trend of large-screen smartphones.
The gender purchase ratio for the iPhone 12 Pro Max was 68% male and 32% female, showing a higher preference among men. For the iPhone 12 mini, female customers accounted for 58%, surpassing men at 42%. By color, the iPhone 12 Pro Max’s Graphite color was the most popular at 37%, while the iPhone 12 mini’s White color accounted for 39%.
Among the 1,000 customers who chose the early morning delivery service ‘Midnight Express’ offered on a first-come, first-served basis to pre-order customers, iPhones were delivered within one hour after the launch on the 20th. The earliest delivery was received around 12:05 AM, with an average delivery time of 40 minutes. Mr. Park Subin (37) said right after receiving the delivery, “I plan to back up the new iPhone while I sleep and start using it first thing in the morning.”
To provide the one-hour delivery service, KT collaborated with Mesh Korea’s Vroong. Although the Midnight Express was an event prepared for the iPhone launch, KT and Mesh Korea expect demand for precise timed delivery to increase and plan to expand the one-hour delivery service in the future. They stated they will provide high-quality delivery services within the working hours and safety guidelines for delivery personnel.
The premium care service ‘Yeogeoji,’ where staff visit customers directly, was chosen by 9% of customers. This service offers convenience by providing one-stop services from data backup to film application at the desired location.
Customers purchasing the iPhone 12 Pro Max and mini at KT Shop can choose one gift from options such as the ‘Picnic UV Charger,’ ‘Apple Genuine Charger,’ and ‘2021 Starbucks Planner.’ Since the power adapter was removed from the iPhone 12 package, the ‘Apple Genuine Charger (36%)’ was the most popular gift.
KT also operates a rental program called ‘Super Chance R,’ which allows customers to exchange for a new iPhone after one year. Subscribers to Super Chance R receive the ‘KT Apple Care Pack’ free of charge. The KT Apple Care Pack includes AppleCare service and 50GB of iCloud storage per month. The fee is 8,000 KRW per month for the iPhone 12 mini and 11,000 KRW per month for the iPhone 12 Pro Max.
KT also offers card discount benefits for buyers of the iPhone 12 Pro Max and mini. Using the Super DC2 Hyundai Card provides a total discount of 960,000 KRW on communication fees over 24 months, with 40,000 KRW off each month (conditions: monthly spending of 1.5 million KRW or more, no spending requirement for the previous 6 months on Hyundai Card). By using both the ‘KT Super Installment Plus Shinhan Card’ and ‘KT Samsung Card’ simultaneously and receiving double discount benefits, customers can get up to 816,000 KRW off. Each card offers a monthly discount of 17,000 KRW for 24 months with a monthly spending of 300,000 KRW or more and automatic payment registration.
