Opening of Yongsan-gu Regional Self-Sufficiency Center Branch Office
231㎡ Scale... Equipped with Office, Training Room, and Counseling Room
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yongsan-gu (District Mayor Seong Jang-hyun) held an opening ceremony for the branch office of the local self-sufficiency center (11-4 Hangang-daero 88-gil, 2nd floor) on the 18th.
The event lasted 30 minutes and proceeded in the order of introduction of guests, greeting by the deputy mayor, report on the status of self-sufficiency projects, commemorative photo session, and facility touring. Fifty people attended, including Yoo Seung-jae, Deputy Mayor of Yongsan-gu, and Shin Min-jung, Director of the Yongsan Local Self-Sufficiency Center.
The branch office has an area of 231㎡. Its uses are divided into office space, Gateway training room, counseling room, etc., with 11 center staff stationed there. They plan to focus on tasks such as education and counseling for self-sufficiency workers and operation of self-sufficiency project groups at this location.
The establishment of this branch office follows the results of the Ministry of Health and Welfare's 2020 'Simple Evaluation and Scale Evaluation of Local Self-Sufficiency Centers.'
The district was selected as one of the top 100 excellent institutions out of 249 centers nationwide in the Ministry of Health and Welfare's simple evaluation and achieved an upgrade from the existing 'standard type' to 'expanded type' in the scale evaluation. This was due to high performance in evaluation criteria such as the annual number of participants in self-sufficiency projects.
Key incentives include increased center subsidies and expanded staff quotas.
The main center is located at 272 Hangang-daero, Yongsan-gu (Namyeong-dong). It is a building with one basement floor and four above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 195.93㎡, equipped with offices, counseling rooms, meeting rooms, and a caf?. Eleven center staff and 230 self-sufficiency workers have been conducting work and counseling here.
A district official said, “The existing facility was small, so two essential education courses for self-sufficiency work (Gateway, Employment Capability Improvement Program) were operated at separate locations. With the opening of this branch office, work, counseling, and education will be conducted in the same place, which is expected to improve work efficiency.”
The center also operates 13 self-sufficiency project groups. Depending on their scale, they are classified into part-time (Uri-dongne Cleaning, Coffee Ribbon), social service type (Barun Delivery, Happy Processing, Somssi Processing, Life Agriculture Health, Whirlwind Car Wash, The Masil Caf?, Uri-dongne Laundry), and market entry type (Smile Clean, Uri-dongne Convenience Store Electronic Town Branch, Hyochang Branch, Daeheung Branch).
On December 1, the district plans to open the 4th Uri-dongne Convenience Store (Sowol Branch) in Yongsan 2-ga-dong.
