Jeonnam Province Conducts 'Emergency Quarantine' Inspections at Multi-Use Facilities
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province announced on the 19th that it has launched an emergency quarantine situation inspection targeting multi-use facilities such as cafes, restaurants, saunas, and PC rooms, where COVID-19 confirmed cases are mainly occurring.
This inspection is an emergency measure prepared to block the spread as the number of COVID-19 confirmed cases is rapidly increasing recently in the eastern regions such as Suncheon and Gwangyang, and the western regions such as Mokpo, with small-scale group infections and n-th order infections continuing.
The province will form an inspection team consisting of 154 public officials from the province, cities, and counties (88 from the province, 66 from cities and counties) and conduct inspections targeting 22 cities and counties within the province until the 22nd.
Through the inspection, they plan to focus on confirming indoor and outdoor mask-wearing and the provision of hand sanitizers, maintaining social distancing between people (1-2 meters), facility disinfection and ventilation, designation of quarantine management officers, fever checks, and management of visitor lists.
Recently, Jeonnam Province has seen a sharp increase in the spread, with 24 locally infected confirmed cases reported from the afternoon of the 18th to 1 p.m. on the 19th.
In particular, the Suncheon area is facing a very serious crisis situation, with the entire village entering cohort quarantine.
Accordingly, the province has raised the social distancing level to 1.5 in regions such as Suncheon, Gwangyang, Yeosu, Mokpo, and Muan (Samhyang-eup), and is making every effort to block and quarantine the affected areas.
Along with this, on the 18th, an emergency statement was issued appealing for restraint in private gatherings and dinners, thorough diagnostic testing when symptoms appear, mask-wearing and social distancing practices, and refraining from group events.

Jeonnam Governor Kim Young-rok emphasized, “This weekend, people should refrain from using multi-use facilities such as gyms, saunas, restaurants, cafes, and PC rooms, as well as small gatherings, and stay at home as much as possible. The efforts of the province and cities/counties alone have limitations in blocking the spread, so the cooperation and practice of residents are urgently needed. If symptoms appear, do not hesitate to visit the public health center screening clinic and get a free diagnostic test.”
