Suncheon City to Host Recycling Promotion Contest on the 25th
Collecting Hidden Resources in Daily Life
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City (Mayor Heo Seok) will hold a 'Recycling Promotion Competition' on the 25th at the National Garden Sports Center parking lot to promote resource saving and recycling practices.
The Recycling Promotion Competition is an event aimed at promoting the recycling of resources by focusing on collecting recyclable materials such as scrap metal, old clothes, waste paper, plastics discarded in daily life, and agricultural waste vinyl around farmland.
Supported by Suncheon City and organized by the Suncheon Saemaeul Association, the event evaluates the recycling collection performance by each eup, myeon, and dong, discovering more than 200 tons of hidden resources annually.
The proceeds from selling the collected recyclables are used for community service activities such as helping underprivileged neighbors.
Meanwhile, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, this event will be conducted in a drive-through format to minimize contact between participants.

A Suncheon City official stated, “We ask for active interest and participation so that agricultural waste left in rural areas and recyclable resources discarded in daily life can be collected to preserve the ecological environment and precious resources can be recycled.”
