Sunchon National University Human Rights Center Conducts 'Human Rights Promotion Education' for Local Middle and High School Students
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon National University (President Ko Young-jin) Human Rights Center announced on the 18th that it has been conducting 'Human Rights Enhancement Education' for local middle and high school students from early September to the end of this month.
The Suncheon National University Human Rights Center has been conducting the education safely while complying with quarantine guidelines despite the impact of COVID-19, in line with the increasing social interest in human rights.
So far, more than 800 local middle and high school students have completed the human rights enhancement education, including 227 students from Suncheon Girls' Middle School, 470 from Maesan Middle School, 40 from Hyosan High School, and 80 from Gangnam Girls' High School.
Through the education, students engaged in discussions based on topics such as △Creating a world without discrimination △Learning rights of high school students △Labor rights △Reasons why the powerful must speak out in places where human rights are violated △Interpreting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights based on freedom rights, thereby raising awareness of human rights.
The center conducts a satisfaction survey immediately after the education and plans to reflect the students' demands in next year's educational content and quality improvement based on the survey results.
Park Ki-young, head of the Human Rights Center, said, "We prepared the human rights enhancement education to help middle and high school students acquire legitimate ways to assert equality and rights as they grow into adults." He added, "The satisfaction and response of participating students to the education are very high, and we plan to continue the education in the future. We will strive to create excellent cases that contribute to the growth of community members as a national university working together with the local community."

The Suncheon National University Human Rights Center plans to conclude this year's education with Maesan High School, which is scheduled to participate in the future, and aims to continue efforts next year to establish awareness of youth human rights enhancement, expand youth sensitivity to human rights, and support safe school life.
