Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education Urges Strict Personal Quarantine Ahead of Imminent CSAT Exam
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education announced on the 17th that it held a video conference with the superintendents of education support offices in 22 cities and counties within Jeonnam Province to provide guidance on school quarantine and the internalization of academic operations according to social distancing levels in anticipation of the upcoming College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT).
The video conference was conducted to strengthen daily quarantine rules to prevent COVID-19 infection ahead of the ‘2021 College Scholastic Ability Test’ scheduled for the 3rd of next month.
The Office of Education urged strict adherence to daily quarantine measures for high school seniors taking the CSAT, supervisors, examinees’ families and staff, and employees of the education support offices in the test districts to ensure the safe administration of the university entrance exam.
In particular, to prevent group outbreaks among those restricted from movement related to the CSAT (COVID-19 confirmed cases and quarantined individuals), the entire high school remote classes will be switched and operated separately for general test site schools (November 27 to December 4) and separate test sites and non-test sites (November 30 to December 4).
Additionally, considering the recent elevation to social distancing level 1.5 in some areas, guidance was provided to strengthen quarantine rules and reduce student density. However, schools located in rural farming and fishing villages, schools with around 300 students, and first and second graders in elementary school are encouraged to attend school daily and are excluded from density reduction measures.
Each education support office plans to do its best to protect students’ health and learning rights by sharing strengthened quarantine rules and step-by-step academic operation standards and internalization plans through meetings with principals of kindergartens, elementary, middle, and high schools in response to the resurgence of COVID-19.
The Office of Education requested through a separate official document for quarantine management at test sites, including ▲ refraining from visits to examinees’ schools by heads of local governments and education support offices ▲ guidance to avoid using crowded student facilities ▲ wearing masks ▲ thorough compliance with quarantine rules such as hand washing.
