Gangdong-gu Launches '2021 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign'
On the 16th, the 'Love Temperature Tower Unveiling Ceremony' marks the start of the Hope Ondol Ttakyeo Project... Fundraising for donations and goods for neighbors in need to continue until February 15 next year
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) is promoting the '2021 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign' under the slogan "The warmer Gangdong that becomes one as we share more!" in collaboration with the Seoul Community Chest of Korea.
The 2021 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign, hosted by the Seoul Community Chest of Korea and sponsored by Gangdong-gu, will conduct fundraising activities for donations and goods to help neighbors in need for three months from November 16 to February 15 of next year.
This year’s fundraising target is 1.25 billion KRW, the same as last year. All donations and goods collected during the campaign period will be used to assist local social welfare facilities, basic livelihood security recipients, near-poverty class, elderly living alone, disabled households, and other neighbors in need within the community.
On the 16th, Gangdong-gu held a 'Love Thermometer' unveiling ceremony in the lobby of the district office’s second building, attended by representatives from the Seoul Community Chest of Korea, the chairman of the Gangdong-gu Community Security Council, chairpersons of resident autonomy committees from each neighborhood, and the president of the neighborhood leaders’ association, marking the start of the Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign.
Following the thermometer unveiling ceremony, an event was held to receive 400 sets of moisturizing cosmetics for vulnerable residents during the cold winter from Medianus (CEO Yoon Gu-young). This first donation delivery ceremony coincided with the launch of the 2021 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign, making it a meaningful time to double the sharing for neighbors in need.
Lee Jeong-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, said, “This winter will be colder and more difficult for neighbors in need due to the unprecedented crisis of COVID-19,” and added, “We ask for the interest and participation of many people so that those in need can spend a warm winter.”
This year, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, a non-face-to-face 'QR code fundraising' activity using smartphones is being conducted alongside face-to-face fundraising to increase donation participation from those reluctant to donate in person.
Donations can be deposited into the Gangdong-gu account (Woori Bank 015-176590-13-515, account holder: Seoul Community Chest of Korea Seoul Branch) and a donation receipt should be submitted to the Welfare Policy Division of Gangdong-gu Office.
