Gwangju Nam-gu Advances Sprinkler and Old Wiring Replacement Project at Mudeung Market
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Byeong-nae) announced on the 17th that it will invest 217.9 million KRW to install sprinklers and replace old wiring to ensure that merchants operating in Mudeung Market and visitors to the traditional market can conduct transactions in a safe environment.
The Mudeung Market Safety Management Package Support Project was selected by Nam-gu in the ‘2020 Traditional Market Safety Management Package Support Project’ contest conducted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups this year.
The reason Mudeung Market was selected is that landlords and tenants chose a path of coexistence to share the pain of tenants suffering double hardships due to COVID-19, actively promoting a good rent reduction campaign.
Accordingly, Nam-gu plans to install 236 sprinklers throughout Mudeung Market, which play a crucial role in initial fire suppression, starting at the end of this month, and to replace 3,768 meters of old wiring.
The Mudeung Market Safety Management Package Construction Project is expected to be completed around March next year.
