KOTRA Holds '2020 Korea Defense and Security Export Week' Online
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] KOTRA announced on the 17th that it will hold the '2020 Korea Defense and Security Export Week' for three days starting from the 18th at Ilsan KINTEX and the KOTRA Cyber Trade Consultation Room.
Held in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Defense Acquisition Program Administration, this event is the largest specialized export consultation meeting in the domestic defense and security sector, which began in 2011. This year, it will be linked with the Defense Expo Korea (DX Korea 2020), and online video consultations will be conducted at Ilsan KINTEX and the KOTRA Cyber Trade Consultation Room.
The export consultation meeting will be attended by 71 small and medium-sized enterprises and mid-sized companies in the defense and security sectors and 55 overseas buyers from 20 countries, conducting a total of 243 export consultations. Our companies will explore markets with a variety of items including ▲ defense materials such as weapons and military vehicles ▲ information and communication security technologies such as two-way wireless communication devices and video security devices ▲ industrial products such as thermal imaging cameras and mobile X-ray systems.
Meanwhile, in connection with the export consultation meeting, a video conference and business consultation on civilian cooperation in the defense sector between Korea and the Netherlands will be held. Companies and government officials from both Korea and the Netherlands will participate to share cooperation and success cases in the defense sector and discuss future development plans.

Lee Kyungho, head of the KOTRA Defense Materials Trade Support Center, said, “This year, opportunities for defense sector companies to enter overseas markets have decreased due to COVID-19,” and added, “We will spare no effort to support the activation of follow-up negotiations and export contract conclusions through this online export consultation.”
