Eunpyeong-gu Hosts 'Conference on the Work and Future of Civil Society'
A Time to Discuss the Work and Future of Village Activists
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) and the Eunpyeong-gu Cooperation Council (Co-Chairman Choi Seung-guk) will hold the 'Eunpyeong Civil Society Work and Future Conference' online at 2 p.m. on the 17th.
From 2017 to 2020, Eunpyeong-gu has sought to strengthen the capabilities of local community stakeholders for sustainable public interest activities by residents in various fields such as villages, volunteering, resident participation, lifelong education, and NPOs.
As a result, they developed a customized activist training program and established the basic framework for village citizen activist education.
It was also introduced as a best practice to Seoul City and other local governments.
This conference was planned together by the public-private joint implementation team in the fields of village, community, and urban regeneration under the Eunpyeong-gu Community Innovation Plan, providing an opportunity to discuss the work and future of village citizen activists based on past achievements and concerns.
First, Chairman Choi Seung-guk of the Cooperation Council will present an analysis of existing research data and stakeholder interview results for building an ecosystem for village citizen activists, followed by a policy proposal presentation for revitalizing the civil society sector by Min Seong-hwan, co-representative of the Ecological Conservation Citizens' Group.
Next, designated discussants include Jeong Ran-ah, Director of the Seoul NPO Support Center; Lee Chun-hee, Director of the Eunpyeong Village Community Support Center; Woo Young-hwa, Director of the Eunpyeong Volunteer Center; and Park Chi-deuk, Director of the Eunpyeong Social Economy Hub Center.
Online participants can ask questions and answers in real-time chat via the Eunpyeong Sangsang Citizen Cooperation Platform YouTube channel, and sign language interpretation is also provided.
