Dosadong, Suncheon-si, Opens 'Galdaesori Village Vitality Center' to Revitalize the Community
Available to All Residents, Expected to Develop as a Hub for Village Activities
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] The Dosadong Administrative Welfare Center in Suncheon City opened the ‘Galdaesori Village Vitality Center,’ a village community activity space, in an unused area within the building on the 13th.
The Galdaesori Village Vitality Center is a resident-led community space created with direct participation from residents in both its establishment and operation. It was selected in the Suncheon City Village Vitality Center contest earlier this year. Starting with the public recruitment of the resident operation team, after several workshops, the name ‘Galdaesori’ was finalized, and the vacant space on the first floor of the Administrative Welfare Center was remodeled to hold the opening ceremony.
The opening ceremony was attended by about 20 people, including the resident operation team who worked hard to open the vitality center and local functional organization leaders. They celebrated the birth of the village community activity space while adhering to quarantine rules to prevent the spread of COVID-19, with activities such as making a hope tree and an unveiling ceremony.
The Galdaesori Village Vitality Center serves as an open space where residents can hold meetings and experience various programs. It is utilized as a resident communication space freely accessible to all residents.
A representative of the Dosadong Administrative Welfare Center in Suncheon City said, “We hope that the vitality center will expand opportunities for communication among neighbors and become established as a representative village community hub space in the region.”
