[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 15th that it selected 15 outstanding proposals in the ‘2020 National and Public Officials Idea Contest,’ conducted to incorporate innovative ideas from citizens and public officials into policies under the theme of ‘Overcoming COVID-19 and Responding to Future Changes.’
From September 14 to October 4, Gwangju received a total of 129 diverse proposals, including ideas for improving city administration to overcome COVID-19. After review by the relevant departments and evaluation by the Proposal Practical Review Committee, the final 15 outstanding proposals were selected on the 12th through presentations by proposers and assessment by a professional judging panel.
The evaluation mainly considered creativity, feasibility, and effectiveness.
The grand prize in the ‘Citizen’ category was awarded to the proposal titled ‘Gwangju On-Tact Schedule Aggregation Information Service,’ which suggested providing information on non-face-to-face events and schedules for Gwangju citizens on a single website.
In the ‘Public Official’ category, the grand prize went to ‘No Parking Stress! Correct Parking Yes!,’ which proposed improving parking convenience by changing parking space markings from the existing square shape to a finger shape.
Awardees will receive the mayor’s commendation and prize money: 2 million KRW for the grand prize, 1.5 million KRW for the gold prize, 1 million KRW for the silver prize, and 500,000 KRW for the bronze prize.
