LGU+ Unveils Next-Generation Intelligent Transportation System Linked with Smart Hydrogen Bus
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] LG Uplus announced on the 15th that it showcased the next-generation Cooperative Intelligent Transport System (C-ITS) at the '2020 Korea-World Overseas Chinese Business Week.' C-ITS is a system that provides drivers with real-time information about surrounding traffic conditions, sudden braking, falling objects, and various other data while driving.
At this event, LG Uplus linked C-ITS with Changwon City's smart hydrogen buses to present various content for drivers and passengers. Based on 5G networks and high-precision positioning (RTK) technology, the content supports drivers' safe driving by providing traffic conditions, bus movement information, and signal change notifications, and offers convenience to passengers through public service advertisements, weather information, and discount information for stores near stations.
In particular, the 'Glass Display,' which projects content by using the bus window as a screen without installing a separate display, attracted the attention of passengers. The Glass Display is a future mobility technology introduced by LG Uplus in collaboration with Anyractive, a company specializing in ultra-close projection for vehicles.
Kang Jong-oh, Executive Director of LG Uplus Mobility Business Division, said, "We plan to continuously advance C-ITS so that passengers and drivers can use and operate public transportation more conveniently and safely," adding, "We will actively cooperate with Changwon City, which will innovate the transportation environment with eco-friendly hydrogen buses, to contribute to the development of transportation infrastructure and services for Changwon citizens."
