View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that on the 14th at 10 a.m., a demonstration event on future new distribution technologies was held at COEX Starfield Millennium Plaza in Samseong-dong, Seoul, as part of the 2020 Korea Sale Festa.
At the event, participants were first given the opportunity to experience a technology service that allows them to check product information using a smartphone camera through an app.
By using an app called 'ProductScan' to scan the display shelves with a smartphone camera, users can check detailed information about event products, new products, raw materials, and country of origin.
The technology was developed based on distribution product data and augmented reality (AR) technology.
Additionally, attendees were able to indirectly experience the future of distribution logistics through a video showcasing autonomous delivery robots. This technology is currently undergoing demonstration with support from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
A delivery robot developed by the domestic SME Twiny was exhibited. This product is capable of autonomous driving, advanced target following, and platooning, and can carry up to 500kg of goods. It is expected to lead delivery innovation through logistics automation.
The event also demonstrated latte art 3D printer technology. At the venue, consumers were offered the chance to taste coffee and craft beer made on the spot using machines that print desired photos or drawings on the surface.
Previously, it was difficult to launch such products on the market because edible coloring could not be used in coffee, but thanks to the regulatory sandbox, edible coloring can now be used in coffee, enabling market release.
Promotional tasting events for home-use craft beer brewing machines were not allowed without a liquor manufacturing license, but temporary approval of a 'test manufacturing license' under the Liquor Tax Act made it possible.

Jang Youngjin, Acting Director of the Industrial Innovation Growth Office at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, said at the event, "We plan to actively support the industry by utilizing regulatory sandboxes and other measures so that products applying new distribution technologies in line with online and contactless trends can be rapidly launched and commercialized in the market."
