Productivity Headquarters Selects 14 Companies for Workplace Innovation Best Practices
Supporting Maximized Productivity Improvement Through Work Method Enhancements at 216 Companies
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Korea Productivity Center (KPC, Chairman Noh Gyu-seong) announced on the 9th that it conducted workplace innovation consulting for a total of 216 companies this year through the Ministry of Employment and Labor's 'Workplace Innovation Consulting Support Project' and selected 14 companies as exemplary cases.
The Workplace Innovation Consulting Support Project is a program that supports sector-specific consulting to establish a foundation for workplace innovation, such as changes in working methods and systems, targeting small and medium-sized enterprises. Since 2016, the Korea Productivity Center has participated in the Workplace Innovation Consulting Support Project, conducting workplace innovation consulting for 289 companies in 2018 and 292 companies in 2019.
This year, consulting was conducted for 216 companies in nine areas: ▲ establishment of labor-management partnership systems ▲ improvement of work organization and work environment ▲ improvement of wage systems ▲ improvement of evaluation systems ▲ establishment of lifelong learning systems ▲ improvement of employment culture ▲ reduction of long working hours ▲ establishment of employment stability systems for older workers ▲ improvement of non-regular employment structures. In particular, the focus was on changes in companies' working methods due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), promoting differentiated system designs such as telecommuting and flexible working hours, and implementing specialized consulting for smart factories as well as active linkage with government subsidy programs.

The Korea Productivity Center selected 14 companies, including Eunhasu San, Emmao Sarang Hospital, Clinomics, Selmac International, Jeonju Sun Nursing Hospital, and Incheon Tourism Organization, as the first round of exemplary cases based on their willingness to improve systems and the appropriateness of the improved systems to spread the culture of workplace innovation. The evaluation of exemplary cases was conducted by a performance management committee that included external experts such as university professors. The Productivity Center plans to finalize exemplary cases within the year for companies currently undergoing consulting and promote the sharing and dissemination of these cases through its own conference.
